(3) 1998~1999, visiting scholar in California Air Resource Board (CARB) & South California Air Quality Management Department (SAQMD), Los Angeles, USA (sponsored by UNDP).His current research interest is atmospheric photochemical smogs formation and its controlling mechanism, including three research directions as following: (1) to develop new technologies for mobile measurement and photochemical simulation; (2) to assess air pollution impacts on human health and climate change; (3) to study biomass burning and emission controlling.
During the past five years, he has successfully achieved three projects funded by Chinese National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), including two key projects. The first key project is to establish the detailed emission inventory of volatile organic compounds (VOC) emitted from petroleum refineries, and to evaluate their impacts on photochemical smogs in PRD, China. The second one is a freely exploring project to understand the impact of the oxygenated VOCs in forest on the photochemical smogs events in PRD, China. At present, another key projects is performing to research the biogenic VOCs in forests of heavy photochemical pollution regions and their role in secondary pollutant formation.
